Visitors Southampton secured a convincing win against the Bluebirds at the Cardiff City Stadium this afternoon.

The passion shown by the fans as they protested against the club's owner outside the stadium ahead of the clash wasn't matched by the players inside as Southampton totted up three goals in the first half.

Cardiff now move to 16th in the Barclays Premier League table.

A large group of fans gathered ahead of Cardiff City's Boxing Day match against Southampton this afternoon to protest against the club's Malaysian owner Vincent Tan.

It follows his decision to reportedly ask Cardiff's manager Malky Mackay to 'resign or be sacked' last week.

Mackay has since showed his dedication to the club by saying he has no intention of resigning but is yet to meet with the billionaire owner.

Cardiff host Southampton at the Cardiff City stadium today, hoping to revert attention to the pitch after a turbulent a week.

Last week, owner Vincent Tan told manager Malky Mackay to 'resign or be sacked' and talks are said to be on hold between then two, for now.

Cardiff are currently 15th in the Premier League, so today will be seen as an opportunity to put distance between themselves and the dreaded relegation zone.

Cardiff City have been playing well - their last 9 games have ended in 3 draws and 3 wins - one of which was against Manchester City.

Southampton meanwhile have not had a victory in their last six Premier League matches.

Kick off is at 3pm.
