Police are appealing for help following the death of a street lighting worker on the Heads of the Valleys road.
The 42-year-old was installing street lighting on the A465 between Cefn Coed and Baverstocks roundabout when an incident occurred yesterday afternoon. A 39-year-old man has been arrested and bailed pending further enquiries.
The electrician was taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr at 3pm and later died. South Wales Police and the Health and Safety Executive are both investigating.
South Wales Police would like to hear from anyone travelling through the area between 2pm and 3pm and witnessed work being carried out on the lighting installation prior to the arrival of the emergency services. Please call 101 with information.
South Wales Police says emergency services attended an "industrial incident" at the A465 Cefn Coed, Merthyr Tydfil earlier this afternoon.
Initial reports say a man was injured. The road may be closed for some time whilst the scene is investigated by South Wales Police and the Health and Safety Executive.

The Health and Safety executive has said the man taken to hospital is an electricity worker.

The Welsh ambulance service said they received a call just after 3.10pm this afternoon to the Cefn Coed area of the A465.
A man was taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.
Traffic is queuing between the A470 Ffrwd Road (Cefn Coed Roundabout) and B4276 Merthyr Road (Llwydcoed / Baverstocks).
