Winds reach 94mph as Storm Doris batters Wales

800 homes are without power in North Wales tonight, with the majority in Anglesey, after storm Doris swept across Wales yesterday.

Scottish Power Energy Networks said they had hoped to restore power to all properties by 5pm today.

Flooding closes road in Ceredigion

The A44 is closed in both directions because of flooding between the A4159 (Lovesgrove Roundabout, Capel Dewi) and the A487 Penglais Road (Aberystwyth).

The M48 Severn Bridge has been closed Eastbound because of strong winds. One lane is closed Westbound and it is closed to high sided vehicles.

Elsewhere the Cleddau Bridge is closed to motorcycles and high sided vehicles because of strong winds.

The A55 Britannia Bridge is also closed to all vehicles.

Some Irish Ferries and Stenaline services between Holyhead and Dublin are delayed or cancelled. You can check here and here.

Arriva Trains Wales says storm Doris means reduced speed on the following services:

  • Holyhead - Llandudno Junction (via Bangor)
  • Aberystwyth - Caersws (via Machynlleth)
  • Pwllheli - Machynlleth
  • Fishguard Harbour / Milford Haven / Pembroke Dock - Llanelli (via Carmarthen)
