Roads reopened after St Mellons fire

Nearby roads in St. Mellons in Cardiff have reopened this morning after firefighters worked overnight to tackle a large fire at Blooms garden centre.

The cause of the fire is not known and a full investigation is underway.

Around 30% of the garden centre is said to have been saved.

Situated on the A48 between Cardiff and Newport, Cardiff (Blooms) Garden Centre opened in the 1970s.

Last week, the centre opened its annual Christmas grotto and Winter Wonderland.

Emergency Services are still dealing with a large fire at Blooms Garden Centre on Newport Road in Cardiff.

Houses near the garden centre have been evacuated and the roads surrounding the premises have been closed for safety reasons.

Police have advised people in this area to to ensure their windows are closed and not to go near the blaze.
