Multi-vehicle crash shuts M4 at Cardiff

South Wales Police is investigating a crash involving a motorcyclist on the westbound carriageway of the M4 Motorway at around 7.15am today.

The male rider of the motorcycle has been taken to the University Hospital of Wales where is condition is described as critical.

The westbound carriageway of the motorway has been closed between junctions 29 and 33 to allow for police investigations to take place.

Road closed after accident on the A470

The A470 is closed in both directions due to an accident.

It happened between the A4215 (Libanus) and A465 Heads Of The Valleys Road (Cefn Coed Roundabout, Merthyr Tydfil).

Both the fire service and police are at the scene.

Disruption is expected until 9.30pm.

People have been asked to avoid the area.


M4 closures and heavy traffic after accident at J47 Penllergaer

The M4 Eastbound entry slip road has closed and there is heavy traffic after an accident involving a car and a lorry at J47 A48 / A483 (Penllergaer/Swansea West Services).

Emergency services are on scene after the car involved has ended up facing the wrong way.

There is a diversion in place and traffic will have to head West on the M4 to J48 and turn around to head East.

Alternatively, traffic can head along the old A48 (running parallel with the motorway) to J46 (Penllergaer)

A470: Delays and congestion due to poor driving conditions

Traffic is queuing on the A470 southbound from Nantgarw to Coryton this morning as many return to work from the Christmas break.

Traffic Wales are warning of congestion and delays to drivers between the Coryton Interchange and Abercynon due to poor driving conditions.

More road traffic is expected around Wales as Arriva Trains Wales stages a 24-hour walkout over pay and working conditions.
