Malky Mackay has admitted he expected to be sacked at the weekend after receiving an ultimatum from Bluebirds' owner Vincent Tan to resign, or face the axe.
Mackay said in a press conference today that he had been left "deeply upset" by the email sent to him last week.
The Cardiff manager said he will not be meeting with Tan face-to-face before Cardiff's Boxing day match at home against Southampton.
He added that the support he received by both Cardiff and Liverpool fans at the weekend during their 3-1 defeat at Anfield is something that will live with him forever.
