The attack on 30-year-old Carl Brennan took place during a burglary at his home at Cromwell Street, Blaenau Ffestiniog in October.

Robert Williams, 29, of Dolwyddelan, was jailed for 44 months and Craig Jones, 28, of Park Square, Blaenau Ffestiniog, was locked up for 42 months. The cousins pleaded guilty to burglary. The prosecution said Williams struck Mr Brennan over the head with a beer bottle which smashed and the defendants forced their way inside his cottage. Williams picked up an iron and used this to repeatedly hit Mr Brennan over the head and face.

Mr Brennan was taken to hospital with a broken elbow, black eyes and wounds.

A probation officer said both cousins claimed to have been “very drunk” and

didn’t know why they went to the property.
