Rugby star's ban for speeding to wedding fitting
Wales rugby star Adam Jones was banned from driving after being caught speeding on his way to a fitting for a best man's wedding suit.
Prop Jones, 33, was flashed by a speed camera as he broke the limit in his Mercedes E220. The Wales and British Lions star was doing 36mph in a 30mph zone on his way to a tailors.
The Cardiff Blues player already had nine points on his licence. He appealed not to have his licence taken away because it would place a strain on his wife and parents who would have to give him lifts.
The court heard that if he is picked for Wales for the 2015 Six Nations campaign he will have to go to training camps at "all hours of the day". Jones, who lives in Merthyr Tydfil, drives up to 30,000 miles a year for games and training.
Jones admitted speeding on the A4109 road in June last year. The tight head prop had already been caught speeding three times during the past two years. Magistrates banned him from driving for six months - saying that he was wealthy enough to be able to afford his own private chauffeur.
