'Stressed out' deer is freed from garden hammock

A deer which got caught up in a family's garden hammock has been freed after it became "stressed out".

The RSPCA were called to the garden in Monmouth after the deer's antlers got wound up and it became trapped.

RSPCA animal welfare officer Sian Burton was called to a Penyclawdd garden on Thursday by the homeowner.

The young deer was tangled in a string hammock and was really stressed as it couldn’t get out. We managed to cut the deer free from the from the netting. The deer stayed quite still for a couple of minutes while it gathered itself and then it ran off through a hedge and over a fence.
