Police closed off Cimla Road following the discovery at the bottom of Cimla Hill.

The void itself was at least five metres deep and was filled this morning with 20 tonnes of clean stone and 44 tonnes of concrete.

Resurfacing will be undertaken as soon as the fill concrete is hardened.

It is anticipated the road will reopen for Monday morning traffic.
