Fourth man arrested in relation to private schools abuse investigation

Police have arrested another man in connection with an investigation into historic abuse at former private boys schools. The man, who is 70, and lives in Norfolk, was released on police bail.

Three former members of staff from Badgeworth Court & Dowdeswell Court in Gloucestershire, and Clouds House in Wiltshire , were arrested in June and also released on police bail.

A statement from Gloucestershire Police said:

"A 70-year-old man from the Norfolk area was yesterday arrested on suspicion of physical and sexual abuse in connection with historical allegations in relation to the Badgeworth Court group of schools."

"He has been interviewed by officers from the regional Brunel Major Crime Investigation Team and bailed to return to police in September pending further inquiries."

"This was the fourth arrest in our investigation."

Two former staff alleged to have abused mental health patients at a hospital in South Gloucestershire will face trial later this year.

Michael Ezenagu and Charlotte Cotterell deny ill-treating patients at Winterbourne View in Hambrook. Nine other staff members have admitted similar charges.
