The funeral of a 20-year-old soldier killed in Afghanistan has taken place today. Private Anthony Frampton was one of six Warminster-based soldiers killed by a Taliban bomb while on patrol in Helmand Province on March 6.

Pte Frampton served with 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment based at Battlesbury Barracks in Warminster, having joined the Army in January 2009. Described as 'a true team player with an infectious sense of humour' he leaves his mother and stepfather, Margaret and Martin, his father Gary, and sisters, Gemma and Nicola.

The young soldier was also highly thought of by his regiment. His commanding officer described him as a ‘true legend' amongst his peers.

Killed alongside him were Sergeant Nigel Coupe, Corporal Jake Hartley, Private Daniel Wade, Private Daniel Wilford and Private Christopher Kershaw. It was the biggest single loss of British lives in Afghanistan since 2006.

The men had been on a security patrol in a Warrior armoured fighting vehicle when it was caught in an explosion in Kandahar province. Their bodies were repatriated on March 20.

Five of the men were from the 3rd Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, and deployed with Corunna Company to Helmand Province on February 14.

The deaths sent a massive shockwave throughout the community and hundreds turned out to pay their respects to the six men at a special parade in the town.

Since their deaths, more than £10,000 has been raised towards setting up a memorial to the men at the barracks. Thousands of people signed books of condolence.

Pte Frampton’s funeral will be held at Huddersfield Parish Church later. His colleague Pte Daniel Wilford's funeral will take place at the same church on Friday.

The funerals of Sgt Nigel Coupe and Corporal Jake Hartley have already taken place. Pte Christopher Kershaw was just 19. The funeral of the teenager, who was from Bradford, will take place on May 24 at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Idle, Bradford. The funeral of Pte Daniel Wade will take place at St Elphin Parish Church in his home town of Warrington in Cheshire on May 11.
