Obama arrives (briefly) in Gloucestershire

The President of the United States landed at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire tonight (3 September).

He arrived on Air Force One just before 7 pm - before travelling on to the NATO summit which starts tomorrow in Newport.

Hundreds of people gathered at the air base to see his arrival:

President Obama's arrival, with the NATO summit is one of the biggest policing operations ever in the UK - 9,500 officers have been drafted in from 43 different forces.

Many are based at a temporary headquarters in Thornbury.
