After smashing the competition in the final of the U.S Open this weekend, squash player Mohamed Elshorbagy has been made the World #1.
The 23 year old beat four-time World Champion Amr Shabana to secure his title. It took just 46 minutes for him to take the top spot, beating his opponent 3-1. The result catapulted him to #1 on the World Rankings for the first time in his career.
The Bristol-based athlete is originally from Egypt, but attended Millfield School in Somerset before gaining a scholarship to the University of West England. He is currently studying for an MSc in Finance through UWE’S High Performance Athlete Programme.
