Bristol's hero: Lord Mayor's Medal for the last surviving Dambuster

The achievements of the last British survivor of the famous Dambusters raid of the Second World War have been recognised in Bristol.

George 'Johnny' Johnson took part in the 1943 mission to destroy Germany's industrial heartland using the innovative 'bouncing bomb'.

Now he's been awarded a special Lord Mayor's Medal - one of the city's highest honours.

Mr Johnson says the honour is indescribable, and he dedicates it to all those who gave their lives in World War Two.

I'm very honoured to have been granted this sort of privilege.
