A new energy supply company which hopes to invest profits back into the local community has begun trading. >Bristol Energy was created by the city council last year to be 'a force for social good' as it plans to use money generated to help community projects and services.

As the first municipal energy company in the South West, it hopes to support council services and partner with renewable energy generators. The social benefits will be focused on Bristol itself but despite this, the company will be supplying gas and electricity across the UK.>Mayor George Ferguson says he'll be one of the first to switch to the company today.>Managing Director, Peter Haigh describes the new venture as 'a force for social good'.
