Workers from the threatened Shepton Mallet Cider Mill are due to meet with MPs from Somerset. They'll explore ways of creating new employment in the county.>The delegation of shop stewards will meet the MPs under the auspices of the all-party parliamentary group on cider at the House of Commons to discuss the cider mill closure.

120 staff from the Shepton Mallet mill will lose their jobs when it closes, but the union which represents them is insisting it is a profitable business and says another drinks manufacturer should take it on.>The union understands that three non-cider making manufacturing firms have approached the cider mill's owner's C&C Group about the site, but no further details have been made available as it is said they are 'commercially sensitive'.

Steve Paddy from UNITE insists it's a profitable business worth investing in.

The mill is due to close at the end of the summer with the loss of 120 jobs and ending a tradition dating back to 1770.
