A Cornish woman who rowed more than nine thousand miles across the Pacific has been back to her old school to inspire pupils.

Laura Penhaul made history as part of the first all-female crew to row across the Pacific Ocean.

Last week she surprised children at Trewergie Junior in Redruth as part of a morning assembly, where she was able to thank them for their support on her epic journey from San Francisco to Australia.

"They really did touch me when i was out in the middle of the pacific and speaking to them on the phone. And I said that I would come back and see them all in one room and speak to them. It was really touching."
