The new Rowan chapel at North Devon & Torridge Crematorium opens today.
It can accommodate more than two hundred and fifty people seated with space for hundreds more outside under cover.
The existing 80 seat chapel will remain for smaller funerals. If needed the crematorium will be able to hold two services at the same time.
The new facility includes the ability to webcast the service worldwide over the Internet. They will also be able to broadcast the service in sound and vision to people outside the chapel.
It's cost £1.14M with North Devon and Torridge councils having put money aside for the project for more than a decade.
