Devon soul singer Joss Stone made a mercy dash home from the Caribbean after her beloved dog suffered a life threatening sickness. She was forced to cancel gigs in Barbados and Trinidad as she jetted back to her country home in rural Devon.
On social media she told her fans:
"Last night (14th April) my dog Missy got rushed to the vets with internal bleeding, I was told she could have only a few hours to live. Luckily she made it through the night and they are now working hard to find out what is wrong and save her. Missy is the closest thing I have to a child. I know to some that may sound ridiculous but for me it is everything.
The 29 year old beauty received lots of sympathetic comments from fans and dog lovers. She then told her 154,000 followers: "Thanks you all so much for your positive and caring comments. xxx."
She revealed that Missy and her other dogs are her protectors following a bungled kidnap and murder bid on her in June 2011 by two Manchester men. Police foiled the kidnap bid near her home in Ashill, east Devon, and Joss told a later court trial in Exeter that her dogs were there to protect her from a repeat attempt.
