Hit musical Mary Poppins comes 'home' to Plymouth

It's the biggest musical currently on tour in the whole of Europe and it's back home again - or at least where its set was created - in Plymouth.

Mary Poppins is bringing the magic of Disney - and the razzmatazz of a Cameron Mackintosh production - to the stage at the city's Theatre Royal.

The original show started in Plymouth about 18 months ago and that production went round the world, it went to Australia, it went to Holland. Then last year Cameron decided to take the show back out on the road so had a new set built here in Plymouth to take on tour.

We've been touring since October last year so we're finally getting the chance to bring it back home.

Our reporter Jacquie Bird met Neil and asked him for a tour...

The woman filling Juie Andrews' practically perfect shoes is ZiZi Strallen.

I go out there every night and I think right, I'm just going to be my Mary Poppins and hopefully they'll like me, and I think they do by the end.

I mean the magic in the show is crazy, it's all the stuff you see in the film that you can imagine of cinematography and film, they've done all that but we do exactly the same thing on stage live in front of an audience.

That I think is what makes it so much more special for the audience to see it live.

With standing ovations every night the show is certainly a hit - in fact you could say it's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
