Four workshops and garages have been destroyed in a fire in Dorset.

It forced the partial closure of the A35, one of the county's busiest roads, and left much of the nearby village without power.

Eight fire engines were called out to Winterbourne Abbas this morning and it took several hours to bring the flames under control.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The single storey building contained six units, four of which have been destroyed, and two were badly damaged.
