Swindon Town have revealed that the club's captain, Nathan Thompson, had his house burgled during their away match on Saturday, 25 February.

It happened at his home in North Swindon at around 4pm - while Swindon were on their way to beating Coventry City 3-1.

A number of the items stolen were deeply personal to Nathan Thompson. They include his and his fiancée's wedding rings and jewellery that they had inherited from relatives:

  • A women’s Platinum plain wedding band and a men’s Cartier love ring in rose gold (size 57). In distinct red boxes with certificates and receipts
  • Sentimental jewellery passed down to Nathan and his partner from deceased family members

The defender says he and his fiancée are devastated by the burglary.

We are utterly devastated that, during the game yesterday, our home has been completely ransacked.

My fiancée was at the game as well so thankfully no one was hurt.

I personally urge anyone that might have some information concerning this to please come forward and help the police with their enquiries.

Witnesses saw two teenagers in the area behaving in a suspicious way and running off with some of the items that are now missing.

The club is asking anyone with information to contact Wiltshire Police on 101.
