The Duke of Edinburgh has made plenty of visits to our region over his many years as consort to Her Majesty the Queen.

The Duke has carried out many inspections over his years of service, but this visit to Devonport Dockyard in 1953 came just weeks before the Queen's coronation.
The Duke always showed a close interest in the return of the SS Great Britain to Bristol - he watched as Brunel's rusting masterpiece was delivered to the dock in which she was built.
This lovely moment during a walkabout in Taunton back in 1987 saw the Duke of Edinburgh send a small boy carrying a bunch of flowers over to Her Majesty The Queen.
