Man's body found in Plymouth city centre

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man's body was found in Plymouth city centre last month.

The body of 29-year-old Jonathan Davys, who is from Plymouth, was recovered in an alleyway that links to Martin Street, Stonehouse, on Saturday, 16 September at 7.45pm.

Devon and Cornwall police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or spoken to him between 5.10pm and 7.45pm around the Stonehouse area that day.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding Jonathan’s death. We await the results of a forensic post-mortem to establish the cause of death. We would like to speak to anyone who saw Jonathan in the area of Martin Street and Union Street that evening or may be able to assist us with our investigation.”

The death was referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) as Jonathan Davys had contact with police earlier in the day.

Devon and Cornwall Police are carrying out the investigation into Jonathan Davys’ death and the circumstances around the contact he had had with police.
