Four arrested after 'brawl' in Staple Hill
Staple Hill High Street was the scene of a major police operation for most of Sunday after what local residents have described as a "mass brawl involving armed gangs" took place in the early hours.
Officers were called to reports of a disturbance in the area at 12.15am. Four people have been arrested and remain in police custody. Officers say one man was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Around 40 customers were locked inside the Staple Hill Oak pub for their own safety before detectives collected witness statements. Officers cordoned off a large part of the High Street and searched bins in the area.
