Footage shows rescue of man who fell off Mevagissey harbour wall

A man who fell off the Mevagissey harbour wall was rescued after the HM Coastguard received multiple 999 calls.

The man, who had been in the water for over 30 minutes, was able to scramble onto rocks beneath the harbour wall, before being airlifted to safety.

Mevagissey Coastguard​ Rescue Team, Fowey RNLI​ Lifeboats and the Newquay Coastguard search and rescue helicopter were all sent to the location of the harbour in the Cornish village.

Before they arrived, members of the public had already thrown a lifejacket to the man.

On landing the casualty he was warmed up at our station were he was checked over by the helicopter paramedic and later transferred to an ambulance crew who then took him to Treliske.

A good outcome involving multi agencies Lifeboats, and police working together."
