A father-of-two from Bristol who survived a cardiac arrest has been reunited with the paramedics and police officers who saved his life.

54-year-old Ian Cains fell ill at home and was being driven to hospital when his heart suddenly stopped beating.

Ambulance crews arrived at the scene just outside MOD Abbey Wood in Bristol, but only after a nearby police firearms team had already begun emergency first aid.

Mr Cains says he is grateful to the emergency services personnel who saved his life and he believes all police cars should carry a defibrillator.

I think every police car should have one. There should be more on the street, because it saved my life. I would like to thank the guys for saving my life - the police and the paramedics.
