Fire crews across the South West are facing a recruitment crisis.

There are currently 1,000 on-call firefighters in Devon and Somerset, but still 384 vacancies needed to be filled.

Retained fire crews have to be on call for up to 84 hours a week, part-time firefighters have to be on-call for up to 63.

Dawlish currently only has 11 on-call firefighters, instead of a normal full team of 17-18.
