Plymouth divers Tom Daley and Matthew Dixon both finished on the podium for the men's 10 metre synchronised diving in the Commonwealth Games.

Olympic bronze medallists Tom Daley and his partner Dan Goodfellow scored 405.81 points to take gold.

Tom Daley has withdrawn from Saturday's individual event due to a hip injury which was clearly hampered him in the pairs.

Speaking about it afterwards he said:

“There’s always relief when you win a competition because a couple of days ago I didn’t know if I was going to compete and was nearly being pulled out of the competition.

"So if you don’t have a working hip up on a 10m platform and you miss a leg, it hurts. You could land flat or hit your head so I’m glad I was able to be in a position to be here."

Matthew Dixon and Noah Williams also picked up a silver medal with a score of 399.99.

Aged just 17, Matthew Dixon spends more than 20 hours a week training at Plymouth's Life Centre, whilst also fitting it around his school work.
