A replica of Sir Francis Drake's iconic ship, The Golden Hind, is due to be auctioned off later this week, for less than the average price of a 2-bed house.

The tourist attraction in Brixham, Torbay draws thousands of visitors every year.

It has unsuccessfully been up for sale at £395,000 for six months.

Now it is due to be auctioned on Friday in Exeter, with a guide price of £195,000.

I will be sad and I will miss it, because it's been part of my life for the last 3 and a half years and we've put everything into it.

It's been great fun. It's been hard work and we've fully restored it. I'm going to really miss that I think, if I'm honest."

– Owner Neil Worrell

The first replica of Golden Hind was moored in Brixham Harbour from 1964.

It was replaced by the current version in 1988, which features a heavy steel hull for stability and strength.
