A triple Olympic gold medallist and one of the best horse riders in the world has been talking about her struggle with depression.
Newent-based Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro broke the scoring records when they burst onto the dressage scene.
The perfect pair have picked up a handfuls of medals, including three Olympic golds.
But after success at London 2012, Charlotte admitted she was struggling to deal with the post-Olympic whirlwind and she plunged into depression.
"Things for me were really difficult through London dealing with social media, that had an effect on my relationship with my partner and Valegro was going to be sold so I had that to deal with as well."
Charlotte says riding has helped pull her up again, her relationship with her fiancee weathered the storm and sponsors stepped in to save Valegro.
She is now busy training with a new horse and is preparing for next month's Royal Windsor Horse show.
"I still have my fiancee, who I still haven't married, even though he proposed again at Rio so he's now been waiting 9 years and the marriage has still not happened, but one day it will."
