A 74-year-old woman needed hospital treatment after a man squirted an unknown liquid in her face then stole her handbag.

The unidentified substance burnt the victim's skin and eyes while she was out walking her dog at Vassels Park on the Oldbury Court Estate in Bristol about 5pm on Tuesday, 29 May.

The elderly woman was sat on a bench when she was approached by the offender.

Giving a detailed description, the victim said her attacker is white, in his late 30s, with an unkept bushy beard, a receding black hairline and spoke with an educated accent.

When he approached her on a pushbike, he had a number of plastic bags on each handle.

He was also wearing a couple of dark coloured waterproof coats and light green trousers which were torn and tattered at the bottoms.

This was an alarming attack on a vulnerable woman as she walked her dog in a public park.
