A major incident has been declared in Weymouth following a fire at a garage.
Around 100 homes had to be evacuated in the area because acetylene cylinders were involved in the fire. Families went to a rest centre in a local hotel set up by Dorset Council and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service.
Fire crews were called to Holly Road just before 5am on Sunday morning. 45 firefighters managed to get the blaze under control around four hours after it started. By 10am residents were beginning to be let back into their homes and roads around Holly Road were re-opened, although some restrictions remain around the scene.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service are investigating the cause of the blaze.
