A teenager has been charged with the attempted murder and rape of a 10-year-old girl in Exmouth.
The 16-year-old boy has been remanded in custody after a brief appearance at Exeter Youth Court.
On Thursday 4th October the school girl was found by a member of the public in a distressed state near Marley Road, who took her to her home in Brixington.
Emergency services were contacted and a full police response was launched, including searches, speaking to people in the area and a forensic examination of the scene.
The teenager who cannot be named for legal reasons was told the case will be adjourned until Thursday 11th October when he is due to appear at Plymouth Youth Court before a district judge.
