A stand-off between police and a man on a rooftop in the centre of Truro is now into its second day.

A man believed to be in his 40s climbed onto the roof of some council housing at the bottom of Richmond Hill on Tuesday morning, 16 October.

Police cordoned off the area as he started throwing roof tiles onto vehicles below. They have re-homed the residents who have been affected.

Emergency services, including police negotiators, remain at the scene on George Street, which is closed in both directions.

  • Two men arrested for assaulting police officers in cordoned area

Police arrested two men for suspected assaults at the cordon overnight. A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and for breaching the peace, while a 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing or resisting a police officer.

They both remain in custody.
