Owls fly at Bath auction, raising more than £100,000 for local charities

More than 60 owl sculptures have been auctioned off in Bath fetching nearly £140,000 for charity. The models were a huge hit among residents and visitors when they were displayed in locations throughout the city over the summer.

Winning bids for sculptures ranged from £1,000 right up to £7,500. The total amount raised was £139,200, with most of the proceeds going towards a new cancer centre at Bath's Royal United Hospital. More details here.

The models were decorated by dozens of artists for Minerva's Owls of Bath 2018 - named after a stone carving from the Roman baths' temple. They were brought together for one last time for public viewing at The Rec before the auction at the Apex Hotel.
