A woman has died after a large tree fell onto the car she was a passenger in.
Two women aged 75 and 74, both from Dorset, were travelling on the A30 in Wiltshire on Thursday when the accident happened.
Emergency services were called shortly after 9.30am to Compton Chamberlayne, near Salisbury.
Police believe that a large tree fell into the road and on to the car. The 75-year-old passenger died at the scene, while the 74-year-old driver suffered serious injuries to her leg, believed to be life changing. She was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious condition.
The road was closed until almost midnight while officers removed the tree and restored local power infrastructure.
