A kindhearted nine-year-old has decided to sacrifice his Christmas presents this year - to help homeless people in Exeter.

Wyatt Sedgeman is asking anyone who usually buys him presents to give money to St Petrock's via his online fundraising page instead.

The Year 5 pupil from Cullompton has already raised well over his target of £300, and hopes to carry on raising more.

His proud mum Cherry Shepherd said it was something the school boy had come up with on his own.

We were talking about what he wanted for Christmas and he remembered seeing something on television the previous Christmas about a boy handing out Christmas hampers to homeless people.

Wyatt said he wanted to do something like that so we did a bit of research and he decided the best way to help was to raise money for St Petrock’s.

I asked him if he was sure and he was adamant that’s what he wanted to do.

We are extremely proud of him. He is a very thoughtful and empathetic boy who has always put others above him. He loves Christmas but wanted to help other people as he’s that way inclined.
