A cyclist has appeared in court charged with knocking down and seriously injuring a 70-year-old pedestrian.

The woman was struck while crossing East Street in Bedminster, Bristol, around 9am on Tuesday, January 15.

Police said the victim suffered “potentially life-changing injuries” in the crash while the rider left the scene.

Conor Coltman pleaded not guilty to two charges at Bristol Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday, January 17).

The 26-year-old, of East Street, is accused of causing bodily harm by wanton or furious driving and wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court at a later date.
