A man has been taken to hospital after an alleged stabbing at a fuel station in Exeter.

Officers were called before 5am to the Esso garage on Cowley Bridge Road to reports a man had been stabbed in the leg.

The man in his twenties was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where his condition is unknown.

Devon and Cornwall Police also say the victim claims his vehicle has been taken.

The incident affected traffic into the city during the Tuesday morning rush hour, but the garage and road closure in place on Lower Argyll road is expected to reopen shortly.
