A burst water main has left dozens of homes in Plymouth without running water - and caused a road to partially collapse.

A section of Melville Road in Keyham gave way after the burst around 4.15pm.

Flooding was reported just minutes later, as water gathered nearby, and the road was subsequently closed.

The disruption is believed to have affected residents in nearby Alexandra Road, Cambridge Road and St Levan Road.

Drivers are being warned to avoid the area while urgent repairs are carried out.

We are currently attending to a burst water main on Melville Road PL2 3DB.

The burst is on the main pipe serving the area and properties in PL1 PL2 and PL3 may be experiencing interruptions to their water supply.

Our intention is to isolate the burst and restore water supply shortly before the repair is carried out.

Due to the nature of the burst, the road is currently closed. We thank customers for their patience and we are working as quickly as possible.
