Waitrose confirms which Devon stores will close this summer

Waitrose has confirmed two of its Devon supermarkets will close this summer.

The two stores in Torquay and Teignmouth will close in June after being sold to another retailer.

The shock announcement comes after the retail giant said three other stores - in Barry, Derbyshire and Leicestershire respectively - will also close.

We can confirm that we have exchanged contracts to sell our Waitrose shops in Teignmouth and Torquay to another retailer, which regrettably means we will close there on June 9.

The acquiring party has informed us that they will be undertaking works to both units for an extended period of time with plans likely to be shared at a later date.

The Waitrose store in Barry will close in June, while the supermarket in Ashbourne, Derbyshire is shutting in order to be turned into a Poundstretcher .

And the Waitrose supermarket in Blaby, Leicestershire will be the fifth store to close, shutting its doors for the final time on June 16.
