A man has been found guilty of murdering a 22-month-old by beating and poisoning her.

Thomas Curd was found guilty of murdering Eve Leatherland by a jury at Truro Crown Court today (March 28).

Eve had multiple fractures and a fatal dose of codeine in her system when she died in Liskeard, Cornwall, in October 2017.

Her mother Abigail Leatherland was cleared of murder and manslaughter by gross negligence but convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child.

The court heard how Eve had suffered injuries similar to those caused in a road crash, including several repeat fractures which were re-broken during the healing process.

Ms Leatherland's ex-partner, Curd, was convicted of her murder.

The pair will be sentenced on Friday (March 29).
