A dog has been found in a "horrendous condition" after being abandoned in Somerset.
The cream lurcher was found by a member of the public tied to a rotting hay bale off a footpath from Puckington to Ilminster on 23rd March 2019.
RSPCA Inspector Marie Griffiths said: “This poor dog was incredibly thin, you could see every single bone poking out of her skin.”
The dog, thought to be around six-years-old and nicknamed Hazel, was rushed to a vet who also found sores on her body.
Since being rescued, she has been recovering at the RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre and the team have been building up her weight and strength.
Marie added “Hazel is much brighter and much happier now and is gaining weight. It’s great to see her beginning her road to recovery.
I’m hoping someone will recognise Hazel, or might have seen someone dumping her, or may even be suspicious that a dog like her use to live near to them but has now disappeared.”
Anyone who recognises her or who may have information about where she’s come from is asked to contact the RSPCA’s appeal line.
