A woman in Cornwall has captured video footage of what she believed to be a big cat.

The unknown animal - described as being the size of an Alsatian dog - was spotted by Becky Abrey in a field near Praa Sands, Cornwall, at the weekend.

The sighting comes just days after a dog was reportedly attacked by a big cat in Callington.

Becky, from Penzance, had just eaten lunch to celebrate her 29th birthday when she saw the big cat.

We had just had Sunday lunch and went for a walk on the beach and came back to the car and it was just on the field.

It was the car park opposite the bar and looks up towards the field.

I was on the phone with my fiance's grandmother wishing me a happy birthday and just said, 'there's a big cat, I've got to put the phone down'.

I've seen so many articles about them and there are never any pictures of them and I wanted to get pictures and a video.

I saw the one this week and was thinking, 'does it really exist?'

It is not the first time a big cat sighting has been reported in Cornwall.

Earlier this year, in January, a man from Porthleven claimed he was swiped at by a "panther-like" creature.
