A manhunt has been launched after a convicted burglar managed to flee a Devon prison in a getaway car.
Miley Connors escaped from HMP Channings Wood, near Newton Abbot, on Monday (April 8) morning.
The 24-year-old, who managed to flee in a car that was waiting for him outside the prison, is part-way through an eight year sentence.
Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police have urged members of the public to not approach Connors if they see him.
Connors was last seen wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans or trousers.
He is described as a white male, around 5ft 10ins tall and has an Irish accent.
The getaway car used by Connors has since been located and recovered by police.
Why was Connors in prison?
Connors was jailed in November 2018 after admitting conspiracy to commit burglary.
The 24-year-old burgled 18 homes - stealing more than £76,000 worth of jewellery in the process - across Bracknell, Wokingham, Reading and Hampshire.
The judge described his offending as being on "an industrial scale".
Anyone who sees Connors or knows of his whereabouts is asked not to approach him and to contact police immediately on 999 quoting log 173 of Monday 8 April.
