Hunt for race attacker who threatened to throw man off Exeter bridge 'because of skin colour'

An investigation is underway after a man allegedly threatened to throw someone off a bridge in Exeter - because of the colour of their skin.

The incident is said to have happened between 1am and 2am at the bus stop in Queen Street, opposite Exeter Central Train Station, on Sunday, March 24.

According to Devon and Cornwall Police, the victim was approached by a white male who threatened to throw him off a bridge.

The offender, who is described as being aged in his 40s or 50s with a bald head and of short, stocky build, then started hitting the victim, causing him to fall to the floor, before trying to drag him away.

Police say they would like to speak to a witness who came to the victim’s aid at the time.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a racially-motivated assault in Exeter.

The unprovoked attack happened between 1am and 2am at the bus stop in Queen Street, opposite Exeter Central Train Station, on Sunday 24 March.

The victim was approached by a white male described as being aged in his 40s or 50s, short and of stocky build. He had a bald head and was wearing a red jacket.
