A convenience store has been cordoned off and a man arrested after a murder investigation was launched in Exeter.
Police and ambulance were called to an address in Chancellors Way at 4.30am following concern for the welfare of the woman at the property.
Upon arrival, officers found a 35-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder at the Spar shop in Pinhoe a short time later, and has been taken into custody in Torquay.
Police cordons have since been set up outside the property and convenience store.
Forensic specialists in white suits were seen entering the Spar, and markers have been placed on the ground near a bicycle.
In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said the man and woman were known to each other.
