Woman arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences in Plymouth

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences in Plymouth.

The 40-year-old is being held on suspicion of possessing information likely to be used to commit or prepare for an act of terrorism.

Officers from Counter Terrorism units carried out the pre-planned operation on Wantage Gardens, near to North Road West in the city.

Residents of the road have told Plymouth Live that police arrived around 10.30am, and after building a cordon in a car park, then carried out searches of a vehicle.

They added they were told to stay indoors while the operation was carried out.

There is no immediate risk to the public related to the arrest, and police are working with partner agencies to ensure necessary safeguarding assessments are conducted.
